About Me
ARTIST STATEMENT
Although my work usually depicts farmscapes and cityscapes, they are much more than pretty pictures. I consider myself a painter of social commentary, and my work establishes a time gone by. Our farms are losing the fight of urban blight and the industrialization of farming. Our cities older buildings are being torn down for steel and glass structures. I am trying to preserve our built history, as well as what is left of our farms in my paintings.
At this time, I feel the need to express my thoughts about the world at large. My new Collage/Mixed Media works are a way to do that. We are surrounded by chaos, in a war that seems to be never ending. While at the same time, there is a threat of another one. Countries take human rights carelessly. Global Warming is a reality. People are losing their homes to foreclosures, food and gasoline prices are higher than ever before. The list goes on. The prior administration was riddled with secrets and lies. I am blaming the lack of responsibility on the past eight years. However there must be accountability at some level and a plan to fix what has been broken. Finally has happened. As an artist, I feel it is my responsibility to express my reactions to situations that upset me. If each of us unites for a common cause we can make a difference. With President Obama we will make a difference.
